Melissa is a registered psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), with over 20 years of experience in a range of mental health settings.
Melissa has worked in public mental health teams, counselling programs, rehabilitation services and private practices with adolescents and adults. She has extensive experience in providing psychological interventions and counselling for a range of mental health issues. Her skills and interests include working with individuals in the areas of mood conditions, anxiety, trauma / post-traumatic stress, and coping with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Melissa joined the Pain Matrix team in late 2023 and is passionate about supporting people to live a rich and meaningful life, despite their pain. She helps patients to understand their experience of pain, including identifying triggers and factors that may be influencing it. Melissa utilises a range of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Schema based Therapy approaches. She is also trained and experienced in Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
Melissa enjoys working with young persons and adults and aims to provide a trusting, non-judgmental environment to support her patients to develop insight and effective coping strategies to manage their pain and life stressors.
