Dr Michael Vagg – Pain Specialist

MickMichael Vagg is a consultant in rehabilitation and pain medicine. He graduated from  Monash University in 1994 and spent several years as a uniformed Medical Officer in the RAAF before undertaking vocational training. Dr Vagg completed a Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) in 2004. He subsequently gained Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2006.

Dr Diarmuid McCoy – Pain Specialist

DiarmuidDiarmuid McCoy is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. He graduated from the University College of Cork, before undertaking vocational training at St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin.

He worked as a Senior Fellow at Flinders University in Adelaide, before taking up a position as a Consultant Pain Medicine Physician at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool.

Dr Brett Chandler – Pain Specialist

BrettttBrett Chandler graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1999 and then spent time training throughout Australia and the UK before completing his specialty training as both an Anaesthetist and as a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. He became a fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA in 2012 after undertaking a fellowship at the Geelong Pain Unit in 2011.

Dr Jacquelyn Nash - Pain Specialist

JacquiJacquelyn Nash grew up in country Victoria and went on to graduate from Monash University as a medical doctor in 2004, commencing her career in hospitals in 2005. She spent the following years working in various medical  settings throughout VIctora, whilst completing specialty training as both an Anaestheist and Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. 

Dr Damien Daniel - Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist

dd resizeDr Damien Daniel is a Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist who has subspecialised in the management of persistent pain conditions. He has extensive training and experience in pain medicine, both during his registrar training and as a specialist. Damien graduated from the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 2003 and completed his Rehabilitation Medicine specialist training in 2014. He has recently relocated from Queensland with his young family to join the Pain Matrix team.

Emma Musella – Clinical Psychologist

EmmaEmma is a Clinical Psychologist who works with adolescents and adults. She has specialist clinical experience in such areas as persistent pain, mood and anxiety disorders, and drug and alcohol use disorders. Emma has also worked extensively with individuals seen through the WorkCover and TAC systems.

Jim Phillips – Psychologist

Jim3Jim Phillips is a Psychologist trained in utilising third wave Cognitive Behaviour Therapies including Metacognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Jim is also experienced in assisting clients with Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Hypnosis. Jim has worked in Victoria and NSW across the past decade, primarily based in Geelong. 

Elizabeth Patton – Clinical Psychologist

Liz1Dr Elizabeth Patton is a Clinical Psychologist with assessment and treatment experience in both public and private clinics. She has now been working in Geelong since 2013 and is currently working at Pain Matrix for 3 days a week.

Michelle Taylor – Occupational Therapist

Michelle2Michelle Taylor is an Occupational Therapist who works with adults with experience in areas including chronic pain, fatigue management, activity planning, seating/mobility requirements, ergonomics, return to work, work/community access and equipment prescription. 

Tristan Shipsides – Physiotherapist

Tristan1Tristan joins the Pain Matrix team as a Physiotherapist with over 13 years experience. He has a special interest in the management of persistent pain. Tristan has worked both publically and privately in Australia and the UK. He is also an Australian Rowing Team Physiotherapist.
